Former NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg told reporters during a press conference on the front porch of his Virginia home on Monday that he "felt sorry" for fellow candidates Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg after they dropped out of the race to help consolidate the moderate Democratic vote ahead of Super Tuesday.
In this video provided by CBS reporter Tim Perry, Bloomberg tells reporters he is "in it to win it" and thanks Klobuchar and Buttigieg for the way they ran their campaigns, noting that the two "behaved themselves" during phone calls with him today.
“I talked to Pete earlier today and Amy a little while ago. I wish them all the best, I thought both of them behaved themselves -- is a nice way to phrase it. They represent their country and their states very well,” Bloomberg said. “And I felt sorry for them."
"But I’m in it to win it," he added. "And we are going to go out, and we’re going to go get him.”
