Jason Whitlock on Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd's interview with NBC News about the shooting death of Capitol rioter Ashli Babbitt: "She was posing a threat to the United States House of Representatives. That's a building. How is she? Because she climbed through a broken window? Basically, that is what he is saying... she broke a window at the Capitol and that's why I shot her. I'm not saying that the man should have greeted her with applause. I'm not saying he should have said, 'Hey, let me offer you a hand' through the window and get here. But she had no weapon, he said he didn't care one way or the other whether she had a weapon. This is a 5'2" 130 pounds woman. Go punch her in the mouth! That would have been better than shooting. Do you know how many different things you can do to a 5'2" 130-pound person other than shooting them? This is what's crazy -- had he went and punched her in the mouth, people would be upset about that but they are applauding the fact that he shot her. Are we going crazy? People are defending this based on race. That's all the defense is."
