Manchin Comes Out Against $3.5 Trillion "Human Infrastructure" Bill: Based On Inflation, National Debt

|

Sen. Joe Manchin, a key swing vote in the Senate, gave some details about his position on the Democrats' $3.5 Trillion "human infrastructure" budget proposal, Friday during an interview with West Virginia Metro News.

“I’ve always been a believer that every bill should be voted up and down on its own merits,” Manchin said.

HOST: You voted to advance and open debate and discussion on the bill, but as of today, if this bill exists as it does now, are you for it or against it?

SEN. JOE MANCHIN: I've been very open about that, I do not believe that $3.5 Trillion is where we should be going, based on what we have going on with inflation, what we have with the national debt, the obligations we have, and the unknown with the COVID-19 Delta variant.

There's too much at stake right now to make a commitment such as that, and not have anything in the toolbox to take care of any challenge or crisis we might have come.
