California Gov. Gavin Newsom: Recall Campaign Is "Serious" Threat By "Right-Wing Militia Groups"

|

California Governor Gavin Newsom is facing a recall threat in his state, calling it "serious" because of who is backing those efforts. Newsome cited "right-wing militia groups" who want to "put tracking chips in illegal aliens" as those behind the effort, during an interview Monday with MSNBC's Joy Reid.

"Let me be more candid and more direct," he said. "The principle sponsor of this recall effort wants to put microchips in immigrant aliens, we have folks that are literally part of the 3% militia group that are part of the principal components of this effort."

"It has a lot to do with me, it has a lot to with everybody watching."

"Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Devin Nunes," Newsom listed those supporting the effort. "I'm taking it very seriously."
