Ed Bastian, the CEO of Delta Airlines, told CNN on Tuesday morning that while they will continue to not sell tickets for middle seats on airplanes due to the pandemic, the Biden administration's plan to require a negative COVID test for domestic air travel would be a "horrible idea."
"Incidents of spread aboard our planes are very, very minimal," he said. "It would also take about 10% of the resources in the country for testing sick people... It is hard to get tests, I think it would be a logistical nightmare... It would set [the "whole hospitality and airline industry"] back probably another year in the recovery... It would not keep domestic fliers safer, if anything it would stop people from doing what they need to do while taking resources from sick people... People need to start reclaiming their lives."
