"Why haven't they been subpoenaed by your committee yet, it has been ten months?" Hewitt asked.
"Well, first of all, I need the approval of my committee members," Johnson said.
Johnson also said that Majority Leader McConnell had assigned Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham to look into the matter.
Hewitt got heated: "That does nothing for me... We've waited for three years for somebody to put Comey under oath, that's you or Lindsay, I'll blame you both, but--"
"That's fine," Johnson replied.
"It's not fine," said Hewitt. "The American people are owed answers about an attempted coup of the president. And we're not getting them from the legislative oversight, and you are one of the two chairmen... Who is the screwup? ... If there’s a senator who is blocking a subpoena, we need to know who that is so we throw them out," Hewitt said.
"Which Republican doesn’t want to get to the bottom of this?" Hewitt asked.
"We had a number of my committee members that were highly concerned about how this looks politically," Johnson said. "I’m just not going to be naming names that way."
