Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Tells Alderman He's "Full Of Shit" For Worrying About Riots

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was recorded on a conference call on May 31 telling Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez that he is "full of shit" for worrying about relying on local church congregations to keep the peace between rioters and police in the wake of the killing of George Floyd.

Lopez said he was worried about putting people at risk in attempts to come between rioters ad police, saying that "gang bangers with AK-47s" could attack the suburbs.

"You got them all pumped today... They’re not going to go to bed at 8 o’clock. They’re going to turn their focus on the neighborhoods. I’ve got gang-bangers with AK-47s walking around right now, just waiting to settle some scores. What are we going to do, and what do we tell residents, other than good faith people stand up? It’s not going to be enough," he said. "Half our neighborhoods are already obliterated ... we have to come up with a better plan because my fear is once they are done looting and rioting and whatever is going to happen tonight, God help us, what happens when they start going after residents?"

When the mayor refused to answer his question he objected: "It’s not something you ignore. This is a question that I have."

"I think you’re 100 percent full of shit," Mayor Lightfoot said. "That is what I think. If you think we we're not ready and we stood by and let the neighborhood go up, there is nothing intelligent that I can say to you... I understand that you want to preen.
