President Trump said Thursday that newly released FBI documents will "totally exonerate" former national security adviser Michael Flynn and blamed CNN for plotting to "destroy" Flynn.
"He’s in the process of being exonerated," Trump said. "That [note] is total exoneration. When you read the notes, how could you do anything else?"
"These were dirty, filthy cops at the top of the FBI, and you know the names better than I do. And they were dishonest people," he also said. "They tormented him -- dirty cops. Gen. Flynn is a fine man. You don’t get to where he is by being bad. And then, right and the beginning of the administration, the dirty cops came in."
"What they did to Gen. Flynn, and to Roger Stone and to others, was a total disaster and disgrace," Trump said. "CNN tormented him, in all fairness. I really hope to see -- because they haven't been doing it -- I hope to see CNN to not even apologize, just cover it fairly, because he is in the process of being exonerated."
"He's gonna come back bigger and better," Trump said about Flynn.
