President Trump told reporters on Friday that he would not be donning a face mask despite a recommendation from the CDC. At the daily White House coronavirus task force briefing, a reporter told the president it would "set an example" if he wore a face mask.
"The question is about the CDC guidelines. I know they have changed over time. For instance social distancing and the number of people who can gather in a group and so on. And now we have this measure about wearing masks. And I know you told Steve about why you don't want to wear a mask, but I'm just wondering if you can tell us more about why, because it would set an example," the reporter said.
"I just don't choose to," Trump responded. "They are not mandatory guidelines, they are guidelines. They suggest you could wear them, you don't have to wear them."
