President Trump took aim at Democratic candidate for president and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg for "buying his way" into the election and for "crying" in his apology for supporting the controversial stop-and-frisk policy.
At a press availability Tuesday, the president also called Bloomberg a bad debater as well as a "lightweight" and said he'd rather face Bloomberg than Bernie Sanders because Sanders has "real followers" that post an electoral threat.
"Frankly, I would rather run against Bloomberg than Bernie Sanders, because Sanders has real followers, whether you like them or not, whether you agree with them or not," Trump said. "I happen to think it's terrible what says. But he has followers."
He added: "Bloomberg is just buying his way in."
Trump also commented on Biden's presidential campaign.. saying Biden never has achieved 1% in a presidential primary until former President Obama took him off the "garbage heap." However, the president said he believes Biden still has a chance to make a comeback.
"It's mumbling. It's stumbling. Not pretty. But we'll see how he does, you never know. You never know," Trump said of the Biden campaign. "The only time you knew for sure was when it was the Trump campaign. Trump was going to win."
"He can always turn it around," he continued. "I think it's not going to be easy. I think he can turn it around, yeah. I think he has a shot. He's got probably almost as good as a shot as anyone but he's going to have work very hard. Much harder than he thought."
Trump also mentioned the nickname "One-percent Joe" to describe the former Vice President's presidential primary electoral history.
"Don't forget, when he first ran I called him One-percent Joe because every time he ran he only got 1% and then Obama took him off the garbage heap," Trump told reporters. "But he only got 1%. Right, John, you know that? One-percent Joe, but now he's what? Nineteen-percent Joe? He's better. He's doing better. He's made a lot of progress."
"It's going to be very interesting. I think we're going to have a very interesting Democrat race. And I thnk we're going to have a very interesting election," Trump predicted.
Trump on Bloomberg:
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: When I think when a man is with stop-and-frisk his whole life and then he decides to go Democrat. And then he goes to a church and he's practically crying. He looked like hell. He's practically crying saying what a horrible thing he did. I think that is so disingenuous. You know what I'm talking about, fellows? That was so Bloomberg.
Look, he's a lightweight. He's a lightweight. You're going to find that out. He's also one of the worst debaters I have ever seen and his presence is a zero. So he'll spend his $3-, 4-, 5-hundred-million dollars. Maybe he will take it away.
Frankly, I would rather run against Bloomberg than Bernie Sanders, because Sanders has real followers, whether you like them or not, whether you agree with them or not. I happen to think it's terrible what says. But he has followers.
Bloomberg is just buying his way in. We're going to find out what happens. We're going to find out. But when you watch -- go back to the church where he apologized for anything he ever did practically and he looked pathetic. Our country doesn't need that kind of leadership.
