Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) weighs in on the Senate trial and defended President Trump for taking the initiative to investigate Burisma and Biden corruption in an interview with FOX News.
"The simple fact that resolves this case is that a president has the authority and in fact the responsibility to investigate credible allegations of corruption," Cruz said. "And in this case, there was more than enough information, allegations about corruption concerning Burisma, the Ukrainian national gas company, a corrupt company. Joe Biden and Hunter Biden, his son, who Burisma was paying a million bucks a year."
"Given all of that, President Trump was entirely justified in asking for an investigation and that resolves the matter. That means it was not a high crime or misdemeanor to say let's investigate this corruption," Cruz concluded.
