Former White House advisor Steve Bannon said the signing Wednesday of "Phase One" of President Trump's trade deal with China represents "the beginning of the end of the managed decline of the United States."
"He broke the Chinese Communist Party. We gave up very little in the end," Steve Bannon said Wednesday on CNBC's "Squawk Box." "Most importantly, we've got the E.U., Japan, ourselves, talking about [China's] state-owned industries at the WTO yesterday,"
"You're seeing Trump, in a geostrategic context, going after China as trying to be a hegemon in the Eurasian landmass," he explained. "That's why Xi is not here to sign it, this is why the state-owned media in China are not talking about it."
"Donald Trump has changed the entire center of gravity of the way even the elites have to think about China... President Trump stuck to his guns."
