Minority Whip Steve Scalise read an apology from Rep. Doug Collins, who was criticized this week for saying members of the Democratic Party’s disagreement with President Trump’s drone strike against Iranian General Soleimani were "in love" with terrorists.
"They mourn Soleimani more than they mourn our Gold Star families who are the ones who suffered under Soleimani," Collins said earlier this week on FOX News.
"Let me be clear, I do not believe Democrats are in love with terrorists and I apologize for what I said earlier this week," Scalise said on Collins' behalf Friday on the House floors.

"I understand their frustration," he told FNC's Bill Hemmer on Thursday. "When I look at this and see them coming to the floor and saying that the president assassinated Soleimani… It’s a little personal for me... When I was in Iraq, when I saw the result of what Mr. Soleimani did... Iraqis and American and coalition soldiers with legs blown off... it is very personal for me."
