White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham defends the killing of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in a FOX News interview.
"If they choose to retaliate, the president has made clear we will be ready for that. Our military is of course on high alert, so we'll see what happens," she said.
When asked to give details about the specific threat posed by Soleimani, Grisham said: "No, that was an intel based decision and it saved American lives."
"I know a lot of people are now questioning the intel, that’s really unfortunate," she replied. "A lot of people are saying, 'To what benefit?' I would answer that question: The benefit is that we saved American lives. Saved members of the military, we saved diplomats and a lot of families from having to welcome their loved ones home in coffins."
"There's intel that just can't be made public because it is for safety and national security."
