Former Bush White House Ethics Lawyer Richard Painter joined MSNBC Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber on Monday to discuss House Democrats’ marathon impeachment hearings.
Painter argued the hearings made a case for impeaching Trump for "extortion and bribery," for "obstruction of justice in the Russia investigation," and for the "unconstitutional emoluments, foreign benefits, and foreign government payments that the Trump family has been receiving."
Tuesday morning, House Speaker Pelosi announced two articles of impeachment, on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
"The Mueller report is a roadmap for impeachment on obstruction of justice," Painter said. "If the Republicans in the Senate want to haul in Joe Biden and his son Hunter, I look forward to the Democrats hauling in Ivanka Trump and Jared and Don Jr. to talk about the unconstitutional emoluments... that the Trump family has been receiving."
