During his House impeachment inquiry testimony on Wednesday morning, E.U. Ambassador Gordon Sondland confirmed that there was a 'quid-pro-quo' wherein Ukraine's president was asked to announce an investigation to the energy company associated with Hunter Biden in exchange for an Oval Office visit, but he also stated that President Trump cared more about Ukraine publicly announcing an investigation than the investigation actually taking place.
Ukraine's president "had to announce the investigations, he didn't actually have to do them," Sondland said.
"And those were of great value to the president? He was insistent upon them?" Schiff asked.
"I don't want to characterize their value," Sondland replied. "Again, through Mr. Giuliani, we were led to believe that is what he wanted... When the president said to talk to his personal lawyer, that is what we did."
