Rush Limbaugh reacts to Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) calling President Trump "worse than a racist."
RUSH LIMBAUGH: We have the ongoing, back and forth, “You’re a racist.” “No, you’re a racist.” “No, no, I’m not a racist, you’re a racist,” between the president and The Squad, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In fact, I think the racism thing is actually not working as well for the Democrats as they had hoped because Spartacus is out there, Cory Booker, “Trump is worse than a racist.” Uh-oh. Worse than a racist? How can you be worse than a racist? But, if you are, it must be that “racist” just doesn’t have the impact that it once had.
Do you realize for most of our lives this has been the number one political weapon and charge the Democrats have made against all of their opponents? Racist, racism, bigot. I would think by now the American people would be worn out on it. I would think by now the American people, it would go in one ear and out the other. How many times can you hear this and have it still have any kind of impact if it’s the standard, ordinary, everyday allegation the Democrats make about every opponent.
What’s different this time — in the past there was never a Republican that pushed back against it. I don’t care who it was. They called George W. Bush a racist. They called Reagan a racist. They call all of us racists. None of the official elected Republicans ever pushed back against it, so it was just allowed to sit there.
The theory, the strategery on the Republican side was: “Let it go. Let it go. This will pass. We’ll be on to some story in a couple of days. Let it go. If you respond to it, if you dignify it, it just looks like it bothers you,” blah, blah. You know the drill on this.
Donald Trump pushes back. Donald Trump pushes back. You hit him, he’ll double down hitting you back. You come back at him, he’ll triple down. This is what we are in the middle of. And this is what I think I was alluding to earlier, this is what I think I have figured out, which, hang with me because I’m gonna be spelling this out before this hour ends.
But Trump is, I think, really smart on this, continuing to call The Squad racist, continuing to identify them as the face of the Democrat Party, continuing to throw this charge right back at them, which doesn’t allow them to get away with it in a blanket way like they always used to.
So now people are being forced to deal with it. I mean, the president’s the one making this the news. The president is the one making the allegation that The Squad is racist news. The media has to cover it, because the president keeps calling them that. That’s what’s new. That’s different. This is not what I figured out. That’s a whole different thing here.
Here’s Trump’s tweet. This is from just this morning about 9:48: “The Squad is a very racist group of troublemakers who are young, inexperienced, not very smart. They are pulling the once-great Democrat Party far left. They were against humanitarian aid at the border. They’re now against ICE and Homeland Security. So bad for our country.”
So now this has to be covered. And the media I think is falling for it. They love covering it. Trump’s calling somebody a racist, the racist is calling somebody a racist. They’re covering it. The fact that these four are being called racists, this does not happen much. So we’ll keep a sharp eye.
