Presidential candidate Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet told MSNBC Friday morning that
WILLIE GEIST: Is there a place for someone like you who says [Democrats] ought to talk to [Republicans] and work with these people?
SEN. MICHAEL BENNET: I think it depends on whether we want to keep losing to Mitch McConnell or not, what we see in the book that I wrote is we have been tyrannized by the Freedom caucus and by Mitch McConnell who just say, "no, no, no, no." They've stopped popular will in this country on climate change. They've stopped popular will in this country on guns. They've stopped popular will in this country on health care.
I think in order to defeat them we have no choice but to bring together a large coalition of Americans who are not just Democrats. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who actually want to do something for the next generation of Americans while Washington has done almost nothing for the ten years that I've been there.
