Sen. Chris Coons said Monday morning he is "confident" Joe Biden is going to run for president and provided some insight into how the former vice president will run his 2020 campaign. Former Vice President Joe Biden leads a new Iowa poll of potential 2020 Democratic candidates. One of the people he talking to about his plans is Sen. Chris Coons, who in 2010 won the seat Biden had vacated.
"I'm optimistic he's going to run," the Delaware senator said on "CBS This Morning." "Everything is put in place but that last decision, which understandingly is a big decision."
"Joe Biden is someone who sees the divisions in our country and inspires us, reminds us in the ways we've overcome the past and will lift us up," Coons said. " I personally have witnessed him comforting and encouraging Americans who have suffered great loss.
"He knows how to get back up when knocked down."
