HHS Secretary Azar: Medicare For All Would Undermine Health Care Access For Seniors

Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar weighs in on Democrats' plan to give "Medicare For All" on FNC's 'Justice with Judge Jeanine.'

"The Medicare program is a great promise we've made to our seniors," Azar said. "But if you start expanding that out to everybody else, you're going to undermine the employer insurance market. 140 million Americans get their insurance from their employers, if you get Medicare competing there as an option, paying Medicare rates, which are much lower than what private insurance pays, they won't be able to compete."

"It will run [private insurers] out of the marketplace," Azar said about Medicare For All. "It will be a single-payer system, one size fits all, for every American, and it will undermine seniors' access to health care. What will happen is doctors and hospitals will leave the program."
