On MSNBC's 'Morning Joe,' Independent Maine Sen. Angus King responds to a letter published in the Washington Post from a bipartisan group of 44 former senators.
Washington Post: We are former senators. The Senate has long stood in defense of democracy — and must again.
"I found it quite extraordinary, particularly when you went down the list and saw who those people were," King said about the letter. "I think it is important that we be reminded now and again that it isn't all about politics, winning the next election, who is up or who is down, who is going to control the Senate. There really is an institutional responsibility here, and it goes back deeply into American history. The Senate has that role to look closely at these issues and play a leveling role in policy decisions."
