HALLIE JACKSON, MSNBC: There’s some reporting now from Axios on just how Republicans plan to work through this second accusation and aggressively contest what they call the “foggy memories” of the women who have come forward to accuse Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault of misconduct. They say the plan is to fight back right away and to emphasize denials and hazy recollections, admission portray the debate as cheap shot politics orchestrated by liberals and abetted by the media, your response.
SEN. MAZIE HIRONO (D-HI): This is what they do, this is what the Republicans are doing, that they can not face the idea that women do not sit around making these things up. Dr. Ford her life has been upended, women do not sit around making these things up. And it also is such a hugely personally kind of physical injury to a victim that they don’t come forward, it’s one of the most under reported crimes. So, here the republicans they can not face up to it, they’d rather just call this politically motivated. They are totally denying the credibility of these women, but this is what they do, this is what they’re going to do. And I think the women of this country and all the enlighten men that are referred to are watching, they’re seeing how we’re handling this and they know this is totally put up and set up job to rail road this nominee through without even all of the documents that we normally have at our disposal to review with regards to this nominee as well as a basic, basic background check. They all want to know what the facts are, so when they start saying about we want to get to the truth, don’t make me laugh.
