Former President Obama at a Thursday night campaign rally in Cleveland for Ohio Democratic nominee for governor Richard Cordray. Former President Obama warned of "demagogues" that will exploit "America's history of division" and said "in a healthy democracy," people of "good will in both parties" would "call out" bigots and fearmongers.
"What's at stake goes behind partisan politics," Obama said. "People of both parties should be concerned about our current course and the basic institutions of our democracy, and should want to see a restoration of honest, decency and lawfulness to our government. And should want to see some checks and balances on what's happening right now."
