Jimmy Dore: Donna Brazile Assures Donors On Twitter That Big Money Still Controls DNC, Despite Superdelegate Rules Change

|

Abby Martin and Mike Prysner join 'The Jimmy Dore Show' to discuss Donna Brazile's tweet about the DNC's new superdelegate rules.

JIMMY DORE: MSNBC tweeted this out: "NEW: Democrats vote to strip superdelegates of power and reform caucuses ahead of the 2020 presidential race."

Donna Brazile tweeted in response: "Democrats voted to removed automatic delegates from the first round of voting. But we still have seats at the table. We are still in the room and very much capable of setting the menu."

The first problem with this tweet is already apparent. She calls superdelegates "automatic delegates," which is Gaslighting-101. Oh, they're automatic? They're not superdelegates? That sounds like something Jesus created when he invented political parties.

So it doesn't sound as corrupt as superdelegates, which is corrupt... Everyone's cheering this. Grassroots people, activists, people who went on hunger strikes to see this happen. Even [DNC chair] Tom Perez realized they had to do this, but Donna Brazile did not want to do this. In fact, she gave a ten minute impassioned speech supporting superdelegates. Did you hear about that?

She says, "Democrats voted to removed automatic delegates from the first round of voting. But we still have seats at the table. We are still in the room and very much capable of setting the menu. #POWERRISING"

What she should have put was the hashtag, #PowerToThePowerful. What she's doing, and I think she screwed up and didn't realize she wasn't sending an email to her friends who are donors, and what she did was she tweeted this out. This is her private position, not her public position.

What she's telling voters, grassroots activists, progressives, everybody who wanted to get rid of superdelegates, what she is telling you is [middle finger]. She's saying, 'We still set the agenda, we're still going to find a way to nullify your votes, and the elites are still driving this bus. as much as you think you matter, you do not matter.

And still, who is she saying this to? To her donors. Because they're nervous. They're worried that they won't have any control over who becomes the nominee, 'I don't want to give you guys all this money if you can't control it, are you going to let Bernie Sanders become the nominee?'

So what she is saying is, no, don't worry, just like we totally cheated them last time, we have many ways to cheat them this time. To me, that is what that is saying.
