At the annual Netroots Nation conference in New Orleans, up and coming members of the Democratic Party and potential 2020 contenders Sen. Kamala Harris, Sen. Liz Warren, Tom Steyer, Mayor Bill de Blasio, and Sen. Cory Booker delivered keynote speeches. One speaker who got a lot of media attention is former "Sex in the City" actress and Democratic challenger to N.Y. Gov. Cuomo, Cynthia Nixon (above), who called on supporters to "uproot the broken establishment" and accept the 'socialist' label.
Also, other rising Democratic stars including congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Julian Castro, Rep. Tim Ryan, Jackson, Mississippi Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, and Birmingham, Alabama Mayor Randall Woodfin, spoke.
