Trump: What The Hell Is 'Thousand Points Of Light?'; We Understand 'Make America Great Again'

President Trump dinged former President George H. W. Bush's Thousand Points of Light program at a MAGA campaign rally Thursday night in Great Falls, Montana after telling the crowd he can not honor the request to "stop winning." Trump said he never quite got the Thousand Points of Light program, but "Make America Great Again, we understand."

"Thanks to Republican leadership, America is winning again," Trump said at a campaign event for the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate Matt Rosendale.

"Somebody said, could you tell the winning story backstage. I said, 'they've heard it.' But, Steve Daines (R-MT) -- great Senator -- comes up to me... the people of Montana, they're really tired, sir, of all this winning," the president said.

"Too much. They can't take it anymore. They can't take it. We've got to slow it down, sir. They can't take it," he said of the conversation with the state's junior Senator.

"I say, Steve, go back to the people," Trump recalled. "Go back to the people and say, I'm sorry, I cannot honor that request. We are going to win and win, and we're going to win more. We are going to win like we've never won before."

Trump then riffed on the Thousand Points of Light program founded by the former president.

"We're putting America first. And by the way, you know all the rhetoric you see, the Thousand Points of Light. What the hell was that by the way? Thousands Points of Light. What did that mean? Does anyone know?" Trump asked the crowd.

"I know one thing: Make America great again, we understand. Putting America first, we understand," he said to applause.

"Thousand Points of Light, I never quite got that one. What the hell is that? Has anyone ever figured that one out?" Trump added.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Thanks to Republican leadership, America is winning again. We're winning. Remember I tell you the story, and America's being respected again all over the world. It's been a long time. We're respected.

Somebody said, could you tell the winning story backstage. I said, they've heard it. But, Steve Daines -- great Senator -- comes up to me and I say, hi, Steve. (Inaudible) sir, the people of Montana, they're really tired, sir, of all this winning.

(APPLAUSE)

Too much. They can't take it anymore. They can't take it. We've got to slow it down, sir. They can't take it. I say, Steve, go back to the people. He's going more (ph). Go back to the people and say, I'm sorry, I cannot honor that request. We are going to win and win, and we're going to win more.

(APPLAUSE)

We are going to win like we've never won before.

(APPLAUSE)

Like we've never one before. Because We are finally putting America first. We're putting America first. And by the way, you know all the rhetoric you see, the Thousand Points of Light. What the hell was that by the way? Thousands Points of Light. What did that mean? Does anyone know?

I know one thing: Make America great again, we understand. Putting America first, we understand. Thousand Points of Light, I never quite got that one. What the hell is that? Has anyone ever figured that one out? And it was put by a Republican (inaudible).
