The president is publicly batting with one of his most outspoken critics, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). What does it mean for the state of political discourse in America? Brian Williams hosts Nancy Cooke and Michael Steele.
"For me the big takeaway from what Maxine did, was she stepped in it... trying to do Trump. The only person who can do Trump is Trump," Steele said. "That's what is so unfortunate about this, it is a space which only he occupies."
"What Maxine did when you consider all the stuff that has gone before, is consistent with what has been going on in the country. But the reaction to he, that she is the one who should be civil,. now everyone wants to have a civil discussion, belies the fact that it is the leader of the free world, the president of our nation, who opened this Pandora's Box during the campaign," Steele said. "In which he called out members of the audience, responded with laughter when he saw his audience go after individuals."
"This is a space we are now in."
