Mary Kissel: Paul Ryan Retirement Is An "Intellectual Loss For The Republican Party"

Wall Street Journal editorial board member Mary Kissel commented on the announced retirement of House Speaker Paul Ryan on FNC's 'Sunday Morning Futures' with Maria Bartiromo.

"The loss of Paul Ryan is an intellectual loss for the Republican Party."

This is a guy who spent two decades making coherent arguments for things like the tax cuts, for policies like entitlement reform. Things that are not popular in the beltway," she said.

"Was he a great speaker or was he better suited to be head of the Ways and Means Committee coming up with these policies?"

She added: "He's just one of several retirements here of some of the intellectual leaders of the party -- including guys like Jeb Hensarling who aren't running for re-election."
