UPDATE: The House Intel Committee voted later Monday afternoon to declassify the memo. The president has five days to approve that action.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) says he wants a memo compiled by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) to be released to the public and says that once the contents are revealed it will be clear why Democrats are fighting the document's release.
The Nunes memo alleges that the FBI abused the FISA surveillance law over its use of the opposition research dossier on Donald Trump and Russia as part of the case to obtain a FISA warrant for former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page.
"It does not include sources or methods," Gaetz said about the memo. "I think the Intelligence Committee staff that drafted this memo was very careful to make sure... there are no redactions necessary."
"When you read the memo, it is going to be pretty clear why the Democrats --and the Democratic Party in particular-- did not want it to come into the public light," he added.
