Trump at FBI: "You Don't Think The People In This Room Could Stop" Chicago Crime Wave?

President Trump made blunt comments Friday that the crime rate in Chicago is out of control during his speech to graduates of the FBI Academy on Friday.

"What the hell is going on in Chicago?" the president warned. "What the hell is happening there?"

He also suggested that some of the agents in the audience might be able to fix it. However, on 'The Late Show' on Monday, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel declared the city a "Trump-free zone" and said the windy city wants to be known as "the city Trump will never sleep in."

Trump said about crime: "In the last two years, America has seen a tragic rise in violent crime. In 2015 and 2016, we witnessed the steepest two-year consecutive increase in murders in nearly half a century."

"For the second year in a row, a person was shot in Chicago every three hours," the president said to the new FBI agents. "You don't think these people in this room could stop that? They'd stop that. They'd stop it."

It is not just Chicago, the president said, citing similar statistics from Baltimore.

"Police departments are overstretched, underfunded, and they're totally under-appreciated -- except by me," the president joked.
