Scarborough Questions Trump's Sanity: "If This Is Not What The 25th Amendment Was Drafted For"

|

On Thursday's edition of Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough and partner Mika Brzezinski lambaste President Trump as incompetent for the office and called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked.

Scarborough's rant follows the president's tweet yesterday morning, made after the Wednesday broadcast of Morning Joe where he called for an investigation into the "unsolved mystery" in Florida, clearly hinting at the infamous 'dead intern scandal' the now-MSNBC host faced when he was a Congressman.

Trump tweeted, 14 minutes after Wednesday's show concluded, "So now that Matt Lauer is gone when will the Fake News practitioners at NBC be terminating the contract of Phil Griffin? And will they terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the “unsolved mystery” that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!"

"The question is, Mika, if this is not what the 25th Amendment was drafted for, I would like the cabinet members serving America -- not the president, America -- you serve American and you know it," Scarborough said Thursday.

"You can say it's not okay to say, but it is reality," Brzezinski chimed in during Scarborough's rant.

"When are we supposed to say this, after the first nuclear missile goes? Is that when it's proper to bring this up in polite society? Tell me." Scarborough demanded.

His rant:

JOE SCARBOROUGH: We heard this months ago, we will have a ground war in Korea, they believe that inside the White House for a very long time. And yet, he's completely detached from reality. We had a New York Times and Washington Post piece saying so a couple of days ago.

And the question is, Mika, if this is not what the 25th Amendment was drafted for, I would like the cabinet members serving America -- not the president, America -- you serve American and you know it. You know you don't serve Donald J. Trump, scam developer, scam, you know, Trump University proprietor. Reality TV show host, you don't represent him. You represent 320 million people whose lives are literally in your hands and we are facing a showdown with a nuclear power and you have somebody inside the White House that the New York Daily News says is mentally unfit, that people close to him say is mentally unfit, that people close to him during the campaign told me had early stages of dementia. Now, listen, you can get mad at me if you want to.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: You can say it's not okay to say, but it is reality.

SCARBOROUGH: When are we supposed to say this, after the first nuclear missile goes? Is that when it's proper to bring this up in polite society? Tell me. General Mattis, when is it polite to bring this up in polite society? Rex Tillerson, when is this the right time to talk about a mentally unstable president in the White House and a nuclear showdown with another unstable madman in North Korea?
