In a speech Wednesday morning on the floor of the House of Representatives, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) responded to a series of retweets by President Trump showing violence by Muslims. Green said the tweets "incites hate" and anyone who does that ought to be "removed from a position such that they can harm society."
Trump retweeted several videos of alleged Muslim violence with the following titles: a Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches, a Muslim destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary, and an Islamist mob pushing a teenage boy off the roof.
Green said the vote to impeach Trump will be held before Christmas.
"I rise to take a stand on behalf of the many people who suffer harm as a result of those who incite hate, anyone who incites hate is a person that ought to be called upon to either stop it or be removed from a position such that they can harm society," Green said on the floor.
"So I rise today to take a stand against those who would incite the bigot to practice bigotry," the Congressman said. "Those who would incite racist to practice racism. The sexist to practice sexism. The homophobe to practice homophobia. The anti-Semite to practice anti-Semitism. The Islamophobe to practice Islamophobia."
"When hate emanates from the highest office in the land, when hate emanates from a person who has more power than any other person in the world, when hate emanates from the presidency, the solution is impeachment. Impeachment will be voted on before Christmas," Green declared.
Green has gone so far as to list articles of impeachment against Trump on his Congressional website.
