Rep. Frederica Wilson: Death Of Soldier In Niger Will Be "Trump's Benghazi," Comments to Widow "A Coverup"

|

Florida congresswoman Frederica Wilson branded President Trump "a liar" on Wednesday after the president denied making insensitive comments during a phone call with the pregnant widow of a U.S. Special Forces soldier killed in Niger last week.

She said that when Trump spoke with Myeshia Johnson on Tuesday afternoon to offer his condolences over the death of her husband Sgt. La David Johnson, he told he that her husband "knew what he signed up for... but when it happens it hurts anyway."

Appearing on 'The View' Wednesday morning, Wilson said that the incident would be "Mr. Trump's Benghazi."

"I want to know from Mr. Trump: What happened to La David in Niger? Why was he the last one found? Why did it take 48 hours for him to be discovered?" she asked.

She wondered: "Why wasn't he in a car, an armored truck? Why did he have weapons weaker than the terrorist's weapons? Why were they able to surround them and kill him?"

"I cannot get the answers. Nobody can get the answers. Until we get those answers it is his Benghazi and this whole thing about what he said to the widow is a cover-up," she added.

MEGHAN MCCAIN: I just want to say one thing. This is a tragedy. This young man died for our freedom and we should focus on that.

WILSON: He died for our freedom. He is a hero. That's what my community is holding him up to be. I hope the white house and the Congress and everybody else will hold him up to be a hero. He minded his parents. His mother died when he was 5 years old. He went to school. He was a good boy.
