Joining Good Morning Britain to talk about his new book 'The Square and the Tower', Niall Ferguson comments on the reasons behind Donald Trump's success.
NIALL FERGUSON: By going in hard on the cultural issues, Trump is forcing the Democrats, increasingly, into the identity politics that you find on American campuses. This doesn't resonate with 'middle America' at all.
If the Democrats nominate a left-of-center candidate, like Elizabeth Warren, I think they could lose. There is a scenario where, Trump, if he survives the investigations... I think he will, I think it won't be Watergate, could be positioned for re-election... I'm not a supporter of Donald Trump, but I get what his supporters like about him.
