White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is asked by NBC's Hallie Jackson if President Trump will be donating any money to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in the southeastern region of Texas. Jackson said people around the country have donated so much and wanted to know what the Trump family will be doing.
HALLIE JACKSON, NBC NEWS: There has obviously been a huge outpouring of support from people all around the country for Hurricane Harvey. You see people lining up to volunteer, you've seen people donating tens of millions of dollars. Can you speak to what the president and what his family have done regarding donations for Harvey relief personally?
SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS: Yes, I can. I had a chance to speak directly with the president earlier and I am happy to tell you that he would like to join in the efforts that a lot of the people we've seen across this country do and he's pledging a million dollars of personal money to the fund.
And he's actually asked that I check with the folks in this room since you are very good at research and have been doing a lot of reporting into the groups and organizations that are best and most effective in helping and providing aid and he would like some suggestions from the folks here. And I would be happy to take those if any of you have them. But as I said, he'll pledge, proudly, a million dollars of his own personal money to help the people of both Texas and Louisiana.
