Statement from the office of Rep. Gohmert: Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) talked to Julie Banderas on Fox News regarding the Senate hearing with Former FBI Director James Comey. He commented on the conversation between Comey and Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and noted, "At best, it was an attempt to manipulate the election, not by the Russians in this case, but by the Department of Justice – the Attorney General herself – cause that came from Comey."
REP. LOUIE GOHMERT: Another thing: When [Comey] said that the president lied about him, used the L-word, Comey was lying.
How do we know? Look at all the things he said -- that was ridiculous to say. To not have done a memo, and then I believe I heard him say, he did a memo and then talked to some of his colleagues. We need to round up anybody he talked to, they are call conspiring against the president, conspiring against their oaths of office, conspiring against his own employment contract.
He said he took is with him, it was a recollection refresh. Those of us who know the rules of evidence understand that. But, look at his employment contract: He promises in there, and he signed it. It says everything he prepares in furtherance of his duties, which includes anything he records, recollection refreshes, it is part of his employment agreement, and it must be turned over when he leaves the FBI.
So he lied about that, he lied about the president, and then he is not troubled when the Attorney General [Loretta Lynch] told him to lie about what he was doing [with regard to the Clinton email investigation].
I'm telling you: We need to round up all those people that he talked to, becaue we have a conspiracy remaining afoot in the Departwent of Justice that is going to be out to destroy the president.
And they've got to be fired, if not worse...
At best, it was an attempt to manipulate the election, not by the Russians in this case, but by the Department of Justice – the Attorney General herself – cause that came from Comey.
