Spicer On Trump's Wiretap Accusation: Let The Tweet Speak For Itself

In an off-camera, audio-only press conference Monday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer was asked what "triggered" President Trump to tweet his allegation that Trump Tower and other parts of his campaign were wiretapped.

REPORTER: For clarification, did the president mean in anyway to suggest that the FBI broke the law or any other intelligence agencies in this allegation of wiretapping?

SEAN SPICER, WHITE HOUSE: Um, in the tweet?

REPORTER: Yes.

SPICER: I'm just going to let the tweet speak for itself.

[CROSSTALK]

SPICER: I get it but I think that I'm not going to try to --

[CROSSTALK]

REPORTER: -- that backs that up.

SPICER: I understand that and I think I will seek further clarification on that.

For right now, I would just suggest to you to let I'm going to let it speak until I get further clarification.
