Netanyahu: Kerry Paid Lip Service To Terrorism By Palestinians, Blamed Israel For Lack Of Peace

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu responds to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry admonishing the Jewish state in a speech Wednesday morning at the State Department.

Netanyahu slammed Kerry and called his speech "almost as unbalanced as the anti-Israel resolution passed at the U.N. last week." He accused Kerry of paying "lip service" to terrorism waged by Palestinians.

"In a speech ostensibly about peace between Israelis and Palestinians, Secretary Kerry paid lip service to the unremitting campaign of terrorism has been waged by the Palestinians against the Jewish state for nearly a century," Netanyahu said Wednesday.

"What he did was spend most of his speech blaming Israel for the lack of peace by passionately condemning a policy of enabling Jews to live in their historic homeland and in their eternal capital, Jerusalem," he said.

"Hundreds of suicide bombings, thousands, tens of thousands of rockets, millions of Israelis in bomb shelters are not throw away lines in a speech. They are the realities of the people of Israel that they had to endure because of mistaken policies, policies that at the time won the thunderous applause of the world," Netanyahu said.

"If the U.S. administration would have taken the same energies that they put in condemning Israel in stopping the Palestinian terror, maybe they would have helped the peace process more," Netanyahu said.
