NBC's Chuck Todd on the affect Donald Trump's candidacy has had on the influence of 'America's intelligentsia.' From Friday's broadcast of MSNBC's Morning Joe:
CHUCK TODD: Let's assume that Trump's going to come up short, that everything he is doing is preventing him from adding to his coalition. That doesn't mean that this coalition, the noise that they have been making this cycle isn't something that the next president has to deal with. President Hillary Clinton, if that's what happens, she's going to have to deal with this.
One of the things that we're looking at on Sunday is -- it has been remarkable that the collection of America's intelligentsia. Not just the political world. Look at the newspaper editorials. Every Fortune 100 CEO, every member of the Bush family, no living Republican president, you can go on and on and on. There is this every supposed leader in America saying, 'Don't vote for Trump.' And you know what kind of impact that has had? What has it moved in the polls? Maybe a point. Maybe a point? That's amazing.
It's a lack of influence from America's collective leadership. That should scare the living daylights out of America's leadership.
