President Obama responds to Donald Trump's statement that now is the worst time ever, ever, ever for black people in America.
"This is in response to an assertion he repeated after my remarks that this was the worst time ever to be black," the president said.
"I think even most 8-year-olds could tell you that whole slavery thing wasn’t good for black people," Obama told ABC’s Robin Roberts on a tour of the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. "Jim Crow wasn't very good for black people."
"What we have to do is use our history to propel us to make even more progress in the future."
"African-American communities are absolutely in the worst shape that they’ve ever been in before," Trump said Wednesday. "Ever, ever, ever."
