Texas GOP Congressman on Primarying Ted Cruz: "That's Up To The Voters. I'm Mad At Him"

|

Rep. Blake Farenthood (R-Texas) expressed his displeasure with Senator Ted Cruz for not keeping his word to endorse the eventual Republican nominee for president.

"I think that he made some promises and didn't keep them. The American people are being lied to by Washington politicians," Farenthood said.

When asked by NBC's Hallie Jackson if he think Ted Cruz should be primaried Farenthood answered, "I think that is up to the voters. I'm mad with him. He's going to have to earn my vote back."

From Monday on MSNBC:

HALLIE JACKSON, NBC NEWS: You said you were disappointed in [Ted Cruz]. There is word now that Cruz could be primaried. A couple of challengers names being floated, people like [U.S. Representative] Mike McCaul people like even Rick Perry. Should Senator Cruz be primaried?

REP. BLAKE FARENTHOLD (R-TEXAS): I think that he made some promises and didn't keep them. The American people are being lied to by Washington politicians -- it explains why Donald Trump is so popular. And here Ted Cruz comes out, says he's going to endorse the eventual nominee and doesn't. So I think Texans are upset about it.

HALLIE JACKSON: Should he be primaried, should he lose his seat?

REP. BLAKE FARENTHOLD: Again, I think that is up to the voters. I'm mad with him. He's going to have to earn my vote back.

HALLIE JACKSON: How does he do it?

REP. BLAKE FARENTHOLD: I don't know yet. Two years is a long time. We've got two intervening elections. I'm worried about getting Donald Trump elected right now, the Texas Senate can wait for two years.
