Huffington: You Don't Have to Like Hillary Clinton to Vote For Her, "Only Chance to Stop Trump"

|

Arianna Huffington implores the electorate to vote for Hillary Clinton because she is the "only thing standing between us and a Donald Trump presidency." Huffington said you don't have to like Clinton to vote for her but she is the only one able to stop the "threat" of Trump.

"I think what is even more important is that for everyone who is going to vote to realize that whether they like Hillary Clinton or not, whether they like her e-mail server or her suits or the fact that she didn't leave her husband. She is the one and only thing standing between the United States and the existential threat of a Donald Trump presidency. You don't have to like Hillary Clinton to vote for Hillary Clinton. This is your only chance to stop Donald Trump," Huffington pleaded Monday morning on MSNBC.

"Now we need Trexit -- ending our potential union with Donald Trump before it's too late," Huffington said, making a reference to the recent Brexit referendum in the U.K. "I would love to have so many Republicans 'Trexiting' like George Will, like former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, like Brent Scowcroft following in the footsteps of Senator Ben Sasse."

Huffington was quizzed several times by an MSNBC anchor about Clinton's likability factor, however she did not answer and continued to point out that Clinton is the only candidate that can prevent a Trump presidency.

"I think it is very important for people to realize that she is the only thing between us and a Donald Trump presidency," Huffington told the anchor.

ARIANNA HUFFINGTON: People are upset, people are angry, people are not happy with their lives and they have a lot of legitimate reasons to be angry. But the problem that we have seen with Brexit is that actually not checking out the unintended consequences of your decision is very problematic. So now we need Trexit -- ending our potential union with Donald Trump before it's too late.

And I would love to have so many Republicans 'Trexiting' like George Will, like former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, like Brent Scowcroft following in the footsteps of Senator Ben Sasse, all of these dozens of people who are refusing to even show up at the convention, let alone speak.

MSNBC ANCHOR: But is Hank Paulson, a former Goldman Sachs chairperson, really going to affect how people vote? When you think about likeability, Hillary Clinton still suffers in terms of having favorability. People don't like her. How does she turn the page? You're a beloved leader. How would you instruct Hillary? How does she get her game on in terms of having people like her?

HUFFINGTON: I think what is even more important is that for everyone who is going to vote to realize that whether they like Hillary Clinton or not, whether they like her e-mail server or her suits or the fact that she didn't leave her husband. She is the one and only thing standing between the United States and the existential threat of a Donald Trump presidency. You don't have to like Hillary Clinton to vote for Hillary Clinton. This is your only chance to stop Donald Trump.

MSNBC: Are you surprised more people haven't stepped out to say I'm with Hillary?

HUFFINGTON: I think it is happening. But I think it is very important for people to realize that she is the only thing between us and a Donald Trump presidency.
