"I'm not here to do general definitions," replied Gene Sperling, a Hillary Clinton economic adviser, when asked by MSNBC: 'What is the difference between a socialist and a Democrat?'
MSNBC's Chris Matthews stumped Hillary Clinton with the same question several months ago.
Sperling served as Director of the National Economic Council and Assistant to the President for Economic Policy under Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama (respectively). He has also been advising Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign.
Clinton answered the question about socialism herself this way: "I'm not one."
