The New York Congressman and member of the House Homeland Security Committee says that he has inside sources which suggest that the massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando may be related to threats from the "Islamic State" terrorist group to attack in the U.S. and Europe during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. "I do know that things are being looked into the fact that it is the Ramadan season," King said. "I know the European soccer championship [could be under threat] or other events going on around the world.
"This is a time when ISIS would be trying to inspire people and actually direct people to carry out attacks," he said.
"It is too early to say definitively that this is not part of a broader 'plot,' if there is one," King noted. "On the other hand it could well be a [lone] psychotic, a person who was not directed by ISIS... But the indicators are clear that this person did have... Islamist leanings."
