In an interview with CNN's Jamie Gangel, Jeb Bush weighed in on the GOP presidential race for one of the first times since exiting the race.
He said that Ted Cruz made a "smart move" by picking Carly Fiorina as his running mate and that he is proud to support them. He also commented on Donald Trump's foreign policy speech yesterday, which some former Bush people embraced as "right on target"
He said Trump sounds good with a teleprompter but does not trust him. "Which Donald Trump is the one that is expressing these views?" he asked.
"There's two of him and I think we need a president with a steady hand. The idea that a president should be unpredictable is not the way history is written."
"The successful presidents have laid out their vision and their agenda -- on foreign policy to let your friends know you have their back and your enemies fear us -- there's a constancy. He is proposing the exact opposite, and I don't think that is a serious approach."
