Sen. Ted Cruz reacts to comments from former House Speaker John Boehner, who resigned from Congress last year and said this week that he would vote for Donald Trump. "I have Democratic friends and Republican friends," Boehner said about Cruz in an interview this week. "I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son-of-a-bitch in my life."
Cruz fires back, saying that he has never even met John Boehner outside of pleasantries, much less worked with him. Cruz estimated he had said less than 50 words total to the House Speaker. "John Boehner's response was, 'I have no interest in talking," Cruz said to press at an event in Indiana. "So when [Boehner] says I'm the worst guy he ever worked with, he didn't work with me."
"When John Boehner calls me 'Lucifer,' he's not directing that at me, he's directing that at you."
Sen. Cruz successfully led a faction of House Republicans in opposition to John Boehner and Senate leaders to shut down the government in a bid to defund Obamacare in 2013.
"He allowed his inner Trump to come out," the senator said about Boehner's comments.
