Glenn Beck Refers To Mormon Prophecy While Stumping For Ted Cruz In Utah

Radio host Glenn Beck delivered an incredible, passionate speech at an event with Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in Draper, Utah on Friday.

GLENN BECK: George Washington said very little at the Constitutional convention. Towards the end, there was an argument, the states couldn't come together, and one state in particular wanted pork, they wanted just what Congress does now -- I need some extra pork, some freebies. What a surprise, that state was New York, not a lot has changed...

And Ben Franklin, 88 years old, so frail and in so much pain he was actually on opium, at the time. So much pain, even on opium, they had to carry him gently on a chair with pillows...

And he turned as the argument on thefloor went on, and he said guys, stop it, we're not here, this isn't about you. You know you've been here the whole time.

You know we did not win against the British, God won against the British, we just happened to be there to watch it...

You have seen the whole finger hand and arm of God bring this country together, we can not spoil it now by being greedy, by being selfish, by getting into our own ego.

They continued to argue until the room fell silent as George Washington was sitting at the head. He shifted in his seat and then stood, and all eyes fell to him and he said these words: "Gentlemen, let us a raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair..."

Let us raise a standard, do this document, one thing, out of our entire lives we were born for this moment, let us do it exactly the way God intended us to do it, and we will raise that standard for the world to see, to which the wise and the honest can repair.

To which the wise and the honest can repair, repair doesn't mean fix, it means to run to and take shelter. He knew, they would raise this standard, and there would be a time when America would lose here way, America would not even recognize the rights in the Constitution anymore, where the Constitution would hang by a thread, he saw thos etimes. And he knew if they did this one moment right and they held ut up for the world to see, not only would it change all of the world, but it would provide the opportunity for the wise and the honest --when the lost their way and the country was almoist over- to repair.

The wise and the honest would run to the constitution, and take shelter with the Constitution...

Reports the Salt Lake City Tribune:

Beck said he always vows to be the worst enemy of politicians who do not keep promises. "I don't have any friends in Washington except these two," he said about Cruz and Lee. He added they are the first politicians he has ever endorsed.

"Mike and I both need food tasters in the Senate dining room" because of how they attack the status quo there, Cruz said.

Beck said that he, like many Mormons, believes in a prophecy that the Constitution will 'hang by a thread' in the last days. He said he believes that now is that time, and people like Lee and Cruz will save it.

He also said the Book of Mormon was created as a guide on how to protect freedom in our day. At the Provo rally, many responded yelling, "I believe."

Via Wikipedia:

The White Horse Prophecy is a statement purported to have been made in 1843 by Joseph Smith, Jr., founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, regarding the future of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and the United States of America. The Latter Day Saints, according to the prophecy, would "go to the Rocky Mountains and ... be a great and mighty people", identified figuratively with the White Horse described in the Book of Revelation. The prophecy further predicts that the United States Constitution will one day "hang like a thread" and will be saved "by the efforts of the White Horse"
