MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell and Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation organization, discuss the "three year effort" by a "fake group" to "entrap" Planned Parenthood doctors. "As I think you saw with Sen. Cruz," Richards says. "This is all about politics... later today the Senate will vote on whether to defund the services that Planned Parenthood provides to millions of American women."
ANDREA MITCHELL: It was acknowledged that those videos were edited, highly taken out of context, but, were the [people in the video] doctors?
CECILE RICHARDS, PRESIDENT OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD: Yes, there were some doctors. This was a three-year effort by this fake group to try to entrap doctors, and then splice and edit videos to make it look like they were doing something wrong, which they were not.
But what I think is really important, Andrea, and what this is all about is politics, as I think you saw from Senator Cruz, and later today the Senate will vote on whether to defund the services that Planned Parenthood provides to millions of American women and I think it's really important to understand that all of this is about denying women access to health care in this country and the vote tonight will actually be about denying women access to birth control, cancer screenings, testing and treatment for many women where Planned Parenthood is their only doctor.
