GOP Congressman Tells Park Ranger At WW2 Memorial She Should Be Ashamed Of Herself
Republican congressman Randy Neugebauer (TX-19) confronted a Park Ranger at the World War II Memorial on Wednesday. Upset that tourists were being denied access to the memorial, Neugebauer asked a Park Ranger, "How do you look at them and... deny them access?"
"It is difficult," she responded. "I'm sorry, sir."
"The Park Service should be ashamed of themselves," the congressman said.
"I'm not ashamed," replied the ranger.
"You should be," he said.
"This woman is doing her job, just like me," shouted another person. "I'm a 30-year federal veteran -- I'm out of work."
"Well, the reason you are is because Mr. Reid decided to shut down the government," responded Neugebauer.
"No, it's because the government won't do its job and pass a budget," the third person said.
"The House did its job; it passed appropriations. The Senate hasn't," shouted someone else from the crowd as Neugebauer walked away.
