Krauthammer On Clinton Apology: A "Raving Psychotic" Speaking In "Word Salad"

"The concise way to summarize that is, 'it depends what is, is,'" FOX News contributor and syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said about former President Clinton apologizing for undermining President Obama's opposition to extending the Bush tax cuts. "I mean, I write for a living and I've edited in my day and I've edited some lousy copy, but I can't make heads or tails of this."

"It's really uneditable," Krauthammer said on FOX News' "Special Report" program. "And in fact, in psychiatry there is a term if you get a raving lunatic, excuse me, psychotic who comes in the door and makes no sense, you say he is speaking in 'word salad.' This is word salad with vinaigrette on it."

"He's apparently trying to walk back this idea he contradicted Obama on [the] extension of Bush tax cuts. He knows he did, he's not changing his position that I can understand, but he's basically saying, 'I'm sorry,'" Krauthammer said on the panel segment of Thursday's broadcast.

"I don't think it washes out and I think you can sort of look at him and you know that he's saying, essentially he's doing it with a wink and a nod, 'I'm under duress. Don't pay any attention to what I'm saying,'" he said.
